Etech Group was proud to be commissioned for the fabrication of Te Tatau ki Kirikiriroa on behalf of Professor Robert Jahnke, acclaimed Māori artist and Professor of Māori Visual Arts at Massey University.

Working closely with Professor Jahnke, Etech’s Laser Cutting Department translated the original artistic concept into precise fabrication drawings. We supplied the profile-cut Corten steel panels and tube laser-cut hollow sections that form the structural framework of the sculpture.

RMI fabricated the sculpture in three large sections and managed the complex installation process on-site. In addition to fabrication, RMI oversaw the sandblasting, zinc-arc spraying, and transportation of the work, ensuring every element of the customer’s requirements was fulfilled to the highest standard.

This collaboration brought together artistry, engineering, and cultural storytelling in a striking public sculpture now standing proudly in Kirikiriroa (Hamilton).
