Together with our design partners at Etech Engineering Services (EES), RMI has developed a contractor-inspired heavy-duty buck rake that has been extensively field tested in New Zealand conditions. Designed with direct input from local silage contractors, the buck rake was refined throughout the silage season to ensure it meets the demands of modern New Zealand contracting.
While based on the proven design of traditional buck rakes commonly imported from the UK and Ireland, the RMI buck rake incorporates a range of practical enhancements where they matter most. Engineered for heavy-duty operation, it features increased structural strength, improved operator usability, and a more durable design built to withstand demanding day-to-day use.
The result is a high-performance buck rake that delivers greater reliability, increased productivity, and reduced maintenance requirements. Purpose-built for New Zealand contractors, it offers a tougher, smarter, and more cost-effective solution for silage operations.

HARDOX 500 Bolt-on Tines
Fabricated from HARDOX 500 Wear Plate, this bolt-on tine design allows individual tines to be replaced quickly and easily if damaged, reducing repair time and costs. Unlike welded tine designs used by many competitors, there is no need for extensive cutting, welding, or downtime to restore the buck rake to service.
Additionally, the tip of the HARDOX 500 tine has been strengthened to allow greater rigidity and wear during heavy duty operation.
Robust, Easy to Operate
The RMI Buck Rake can be operated with the wings folded into a transport width of 2,975mm, or fully extended to 4,200 mm for maximum silage displacement of approximately 8m³. The hydraulically operated folding wings are powered by two hydraulic rams and equipped an accumulator kit, ensuring smooth and reliable operation.
The design also provides significantly improved forward visibility from the loader cab. Head-stock framework is angled with the operator’s line of sight, giving drivers greater control, safety, and confidence while working on the stack.
Oversized Pivots
The class-leading pivot and pin design ensures longevity and trouble-free operation. A large pin diameter (60mm) and increased length (320mm) between bearings increases the rigidity of each wing, where a large proportion of impacts occur.
